IP is an acronym that stands for : Internet Protocol. It is called IP because its signals are digitized, compacted and then streamed through the internet. IP cameras have built in web server which gives a direct way of network access. Thus they are referred to as network and internet cameras. Generally speaking, IP security camera is a combination of the security of video surveillance with the flexibility of the Internet.
What does distinguish IP security camera from analog camera? Through the chain of time, digital cameras became less expensive and people starts to replace the tubes of analog camera with the digital Charged Coupled Devices (CCDs) – a device transfers charge packets from one transistor to another. In addition, the increasing availability of LANs that the camera get benefit from adds another feature for its wide spread. Another superior characteristic of IP cameras over analog is the high-quality images and its ability to send digital video signals directly from the camera source. On the other hand, its counterpart uses video recorder or digital video recorder to send the signals. And most importantly is the high resolution of IP security camera that there is no restriction for the resolutions.
Because of built in network, IP cameras are more secure and more flexible in design. They can also broadcast using available network software in the home or business. Amazingly, network cameras have analog ports, which help receiving both analog and digital video feeds. For those cameras, which do not have analog ports, there are many network tools to send out an analog feeds. It is also characterized by digitized signals that make storage and saving easier. Other features commonly found in IP cameras are their ability to capture still photos and availability in different sizes. Nowadays, IP cameras are tend to be small sizes to fit the needs of surveillance and discretion.
Though internet is a noticeable feature in the camera, it also can be a drawback, that is, live streaming from the internet requires large amounts of bandwidth and higher-speed connections. And because of the technology progress, these cameras need more built in technology that would reduce system costs, shorten the list manufacturers, and illuminate the lack of standards, and thus each IP camera would use different programming interface or many encoding videos. In addition, cheap IP cameras can not be viewed by any browser except the Internet Explorer.
What makes the captured images clearer and more detailed? What really determines your high-quality image details is the resolution; therefore, taking care of your IP camera resolution is very important. It is important to know that the resolution by itself is not the only criterion for having a high-quality image, there are other important factors to keep in mind such as: Proper lighting, Lens quality, Steadiness of camera, Auto-focus on the proper subject, proper shutter speed for moving or stationary subject, clean equipment. The resolution of your network camera also depends on your purpose of picking this picture and the size of it. For example, if you want to print the photo you picked, you need to shoot higher resolution while using the captured photo in the e-mail, requires you to use lower resolution.
What are the applications of the IP security cameras? The primary use of IP cameras is security. Their flexibility allows people from different fields to use it in other needs than security. Tourist locations and zoos, for example, use remote cameras to transmit beautiful and attractive scenes and shots for their websites.
Contractors use it for monitoring the progress of the work and co-worker productivity. In fact, one of the most significant IP cameras applications is its capability to troubleshoot remotely, so it saves the companies time and money, where experts do not have to travel for diagnosing and solving the problems.

Top 10 Reasons to Invest in Costa Rica
Getting the most from your hard earned money means making smart investments and seizing great opportunities. Investing in unpredictable stocks and declining 401Ks seems futile. Consider investing in a lifestyle that surrounds you with exotic nature and sandy beaches. Costa Rica remains one of the most attractive countries for foreign investment. Below is a list of the top 10 reasons why you should consider investing in this tropical oasis.
1. The Nature
Costa Rica is known for its nature and unprecedented beauty. With nearly 25% of the country’s land being protected by national parks and protected areas they have ensured that its breath taking beaches, rain forest, and exotic wildlife will be around for decades.
2. The Culture
Costa Ricans are extremely friendly, hospitable (even to foreigners), family-oriented, peaceful, fun loving, and live a ‘pura vida” lifestyle. “Pura Vida” is more than just a slogan; it’s the way of life, seeking harmony with nature and each other. Because of their laid back attitude, ticos enjoy life and live in the moment.
3. Tax Incentives
Capital gain taxes are 0%, while property taxes are a mere.25% in Costa Rica. These rates are significantly lower than in the US, Europe and Canada. Only income generated in here is subject to income tax and large amounts of income can be deductible and free from any tax. Nonexistent capital gain taxes, low property taxes, and minimal income tax make Costa Rica an attractive place to buy real estate. Your investment will quickly turn into profit as the demand for land increases.
4. Stable Government
Costa Rica is democratic and one of the most stable governments in Latin America. In 1948, they abolished it’s army and has since enjoyed its peaceful democratic existence, often being referred to as the “Switzerland of Central America”. Their stable government and peaceful nation ensures that the money your property investment is secure.
5. Low Cost of Living
Most expats can live comfortably in Costa Rica for about $1,500 or less per month. For those who want to live in luxury with regular maid and gardener services as well as regular dining out and entertainment should budget around $2,500 to $3,500 per month. This is far less than the cost of living in the US, Canada or Europe. People who can not afford to retire in the US can now retire in paradise for much less and live the lifestyle they always dreamed of.
6. No Ownership Restrictions
All foreigners enjoy the same rights as Costa Ricans when it comes to real estate ownership and in fact, foreign ownership is encouraged. All titled, fee simple properties are registered in the National Registry of Costa Rica thus protecting your ownership rights.
7. Affordable Medical Care
Costa Rica has one of Latin America’s best health care systems, offering both public and private care. Because private health care is so much more affordable, many are choosing to retire in Costa Rica simply for the affordable medical care. The country has become almost as popular for their quality and low priced medical treatments as they are for their beaches and jungles.
8. Activities & Adventure
Costa Rica is very eco-diverse with variety of environments. With everything from beaches to jungles there are plenty of activities and sight seeing adventures that take advantage of the natural landscape. Surf, scuba dive, snorkel, fish, and explore the beaches. Hike, zip line, and bird watch in the vast jungles and rain forests. Relax with calming massages, tranquil beaches and the soothing sounds of the jungle.
9. Educated Populace
Costa Rica abolished their army so that they could use that money on educating their people. Thanks to this and ongoing reforms, the country has a 93% literacy rate. Due to this high literacy rate and an educated populace the overwhelming majority of the population is middle-class.
10. Everything
None of these things on their own could make Costa Rica the perfect place to invest but when you combine the exotic nature, culture, tax incentives, stable government, free ownership, low cost of living, affordable health care, endless amounts of activities with an educated populace you get an environment that is prime for investing and living in.
This tropical paradise and island lifestyle offers vacationers and residents an escape from their typical busy lifestyles. With a real estate investment in Costa Rica you can vacation or retire in a paradise. If you haven’t been to to this exotic land before, I encourage to visit and see what all the talk is about
Tips to pay off credit cards
The new reality
The banking industry is running scared. They think you won’t be able to keep up with your credit card payments in 2009 as the nation continues to work its way through this economic meltdown. Of course, that’s a justifiable concern whenever the economy slows down, jobs are lost, and unemployment rises. But what’s different in 2009 is that banks are already reeling from the mortgage-default crisis that has triggered bank failures and shotgun marriages between weak banks and less-weak banks. Banks aren’t exactly in great shape these days and they are painfully aware of a Category 3 hurricane about to bear down on them: National credit card debt is at a staggering $970 billion, 50 % higher than when the last economic slowdown hit in 2000. That’s what happens in an era of “easy” money where banks irresponsibly hand out multiple credit cards to anyone with a pulse, regardless of income, and consumers are all too eager to play along.
The game, however, is up, my friends. Credit card companies have reversed course. They are now looking for ways to lend less money, espe cially on accounts they deem risky: consumers with high unpaid balances and poor FICO credit scores. Reducing credit card limits, closing down accounts with no warning, and abruptly increas ing interest rates are just some of the aggressive tactics the card companies are implementing right now to shore up their business. That means seri ous repercussions for you throughout 2009. Your FICO score may drop — not because you changed your financial behavior, but because the credit card companies changed the rules on you.
Hair Dryer Safety
The basic idea behind hair dryers is pretty simple, but producing one for mass consumption requires some hard thinking about safety features. Manufacturers have to predict how their hair dryer might be misused. They then try to design a product that will be safe in the widest variety of conditions.

The heat shield keeps the barrel of the hair dryer from becoming too hot.
Besides the ground fault circuit interrupters we learned about on the first page, here are some other safety features hair dryers commonly have:
- Safety cut-off switch – Your scalp can be burned by temperatures more than 140 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 60 degrees Celsius) [source: Hardin]. To ensure that the air coming out of the barrel never nears this temperature, hair dryers have some type of heat sensor that trips the circuit and shuts off the motor when the temperature rises too much. This hair dryer and many others rely on a simple bimetallic strip as a cut off switch.
- Bimetallic strip – Made out of sheets of two metals, both expand when heated but at different rates. When the temperature rises inside the hair dryer, the strip heats up and bends because one metal sheet has grown larger than the other. When it reaches a certain point, it trips a switch that cuts off power to the hair dryer. (For more information on bimetallic strips, see How Thermometers Work).
- Thermal fuse – For further protection against overheating and catching fire, there is often a thermal fuse included in the heating element circuit. This fuse will blow and break the circuit if the temperature and current are excessively high.
- Insulation – Without proper insulation, the outside of the hair dryer would become extremely hot to the touch. If you grabbed it by the barrel after using it, it might seriously burn your hand. To prevent this, hair dryers have a heat shield of insulating material that lines the plastic barrel.
- Protective screens – When air is drawn into the hair dryer as the fan blades turn, other things outside the hair dryer are also pulled toward the air intake. This is why you’ll find a wire screen covering the air holes on either side of the dryer. After you’ve used a hair dryer for a while, you’ll find a large amount of lint building up on the outside of the screen. If this were to build up inside the hair dryer, it would be scorched by the heating element or might even clog the motor itself.
Even with this screen in place, you’ll need to periodically pick lint off the screen. Too much lint can block the airflow into the dryer, and the hair dryer will overheat with less air carrying away the heat generated by the nichrome coil or other type of heating element. Newer hair dryers have incorporated some technology from the clothes dryer: a removable lint screen that’s easier to clean.
- Front grill – The end of the barrel of a hair dryer is covered by a grill made out of material that can withstand the heat coming from the dryer. This screen makes it difficult for small children (or other especially inquisitive people) to stick their fingers or other objects down the barrel of the dryer, where they could be burned by contact with the heating element.

What is the Best Pillow for a Pinched Nerve in the Neck?
Ice therapy can be an effective pain reliever- Applying an ice pack to the upper shoulder and neck can help to decrease the muscle spasm and provide an analgesic effect. Another great help is traction for the neck. One way to accomplish this is with a special support cushion called the Soothe-A-Ciser. Basically, you lie back on this cushion with your head hanging, looking up to the ceiling. The Soothe-A-Ciser works to alleviate neck pain by working to restore the natural curve of the neck as you lay over the pillow. The Soothe-A-Ciser Neck traction cushion uses the weight of the head to gently stretch the upper chest and anterior neck muscles, restoring the natural curve in the neck. Another idea is to use a home traction unit such as the Pronex Pneumatic traction unit, another great neck stretches that gives gentle neck traction to the cervical spine. Sleeping on a good cervical support neck pillow is also important to make sure that the head and neck are aligned properly while sleeping. The Cervical traction neck pillow accomplishes traction and support in one neck pillow.
I would also reccomend neck exercises to our friend. If done correctly they can increase your range of motion, mobility and strengthen the cervical spine. As you increase the mobility in your neck, you will notice greater range of motion and movement with less stiffness. These neck exercises are very simple actually: they involve flexing your head forward (bringing the chin to the chest), extending the head (looking up to the ceiling), laterally flexing (bringing the right ear to the right shoulder, and the left ear to the left shoulder), and finally rotation (turning the head from side to side). The best time of day to do these exercises is first thing in the morning. It is important to hold each stretch for at least 15-20 seconds. They can even done in the shower with hot water hitting the neck and upper back area.
Finally, it is important to address the muscle spasms that creating a very tight upper back and shoulder area. There are few good solutions for this. A massage can be very beneficial- especially deep tissue massage that works the upper trapezius and cerivcal paraspinal muscles. You can work on muscle spasms also by using a home tens unit. Tens units are often battery-operated devices that sends electrical impulses to certain parts of the body to block pain signals. The electrical currents produced are mild, but can prevent pain messages from being transmitted to the brain and may raise the level of endorphins (natural pain killers produced by the brain). Using a tens unit followed by ice can be very benefical. Also, using a natural pain relief gel like Biofreeze can help to break up trigger points and provide soothing relief.
Well did he listen? Not sure exactly. I think the Hot Sake helped him a great deal- it definitely relaxed him and he forgot about his “pinched nerve” for at least a few hours.

Linens That Are In Pristine Condition
When you look at the caliber of their linens, you are amazed to s
ee how terrific
they look. These women put a lot of time into their linens (something I never do). But I always wanted to know their secrets about how they prepare their linens for re-sale.
These gals are very sweet and have printed an instruction sheet for their customers on how to clean the linens, titled “How We Clean Our Linens”. Notice they are saying what works for them. I am going to share their tips. Remember, nothing in life is guaranteed. With linen cleaning as well as everything else in life…..you give it a try!
“How We Clean Our Linens” By Dusty’s Vintage
1. PRESPOT: on dry item, spray any spots generously with “Simple Green: full strength. Let sit for 24-72 hours.
2. SOAK**: in your top loading washing machine put one cup “Clorox Bleach, one cup of “Biz” and 1/4 cup of “All”. Fill machine with warm water and agitate to mix detergents. Add linens. Soak for 3-24 hours. (DO NOT USE “TIDE”).
3. WASH: When soaking is complete, let washer go through full cycle. (Normal cycle for print and gentle cycle for finer whites).
4. DRY: Dry linens in hot dryer.
5. IRON: Use light steam and “Niagara” Heavy Starch (blue can).
“Biz”, “Simple Green” can usually be found at “Wal-Mart”, “K-Mart” and “Target”.
**With dark blues, purples, blacks and browns on the print use less bleach or no bleach and soak with the lower time.
Postscript: The “Chlorox bleach” part is scaring the heck out of me…but this is what Dusty’s Vintage does. I welcome all of your feedback. Don’t shoot me, I am the messenger. These gals must know what they are doing….their linens say it all!
Dedicated Servers
Perhaps you are wondering what dedicated servers are and why you need one. Dedicated server refers to the type of web hosting provider for a web site. If you have a web site, you must need a host. There are several types of hosting options available on the internet. One is to rent a shared server. With a shared hosting also called “Virtual hosting” your website shares server space with other websites. Shared servers are relatively cheaper and require basic skill as all the server administration is done by the host. This type of hosting is ideal for entry level website owners and for those who don’t have high traffic volumes.
On the other hand there is dedicated hosting. Dedicated hosting is different from other normal hosting because it actually allows you to have the authority to control your own server and upload your files to the server. It also gives you the admin access to the server where you have all the space and bandwidth on the server so you can expand your website as much as you want like including database such as shopping carts and forums which usually requires quite a bit of space. It gives you more control over the safety of your server and website. You also have the authority to add some more security enhancing features on you site. But dedicated servers are more expensive than shared servers and require higher level of technical know how to operate. However for big companies with big websites that attracts heavy volume of traffic, dedicated server is the best choice because you don’t want to lose thousand of dollars you are earning a day if your server went down.
Dedicated hosting allows you to have unlimited access to the operating system and application softwares. You can also have the flexibility to run advanced customized e-commerce applications on your server. As your site grown you tend to attract more traffic and it becomes more demanding for the server. Dedicated servers allow you to upgrade your hard drive, Ram processor, software applications yourself with no limitations as compared to shared hosting. Dedicated server also provides you with your own firewall for the storage of sensitive and classified information on your server.
Dedicated Servers are available in different sizes as well as services. When pursuing different hosting option, when it comes to dedicated server, you can generally find anything from large servers to budget dedicated servers.

Measuring Declines from the High- Gold, Silver, Platinum, Palladium
For the past few weeks, precious metals have undergone significant, rapid declines. This follows a year of banner performance during 2009. I wanted to take a post to briefly examine the extent of the declines for gold, silver, platinum, and palladium.
Roughly two months ago, gold had reached a new all time high and silver had reached its highest level going back about twenty months. Less than three weeks ago, platinum and palladium had reached their highest levels in about sixteen months.
The figures below show the recent high compared to the recent low and the extent of the decline. All figures are London PM Fix.
